My son loves doughnuts! To him, they are the best treat. I
decided to try to make homemade doughnuts. I thought this way I could control
the size and freeze most of them for later treats. I was lucky enough to find an
old family recipe from my husband’s great- grandmother’s cookbook. These doughnuts
were wonderful!
These were suppose to be the mini size, but they rose so much
they became normal-size doughnuts.
I know this is not considered a healthy treat, but that is why I wanted to make them mini. It was so much fun using my new deep fryer. A pan of a few inches of oil can be used instead. If using a pan, make sure the doughnuts float in the oil or they will burn. Brown each of the doughnuts until light brown. I cooked each side about 2 minutes. Next, place the doughnuts on a cookie rack to allow them to drain. After a few minutes I turned each doughnut over to be sure the oil had completely drained. If they do not drain the oil will settle back into the doughnut making it very soggy.
TAH DAH, my master piece!
